John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has been able to touch many with his songs. Many of these are based on Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf at Roswell in New Mexico fell in love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Many people traveled to Colorado following the Denver's cult tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says it is true that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He is now Colorado's international image. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other side of the world one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short stint in small folk bands. Danoff composed the song in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single after hearing it first. The song was recorded a couple of days after having performed in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
